The Syrian Kurdish city of Kobane is “about to fall,” says Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as he criticizes US allied bombing of Islamic State militants surrounding the city for being insufficient.
Speaking before refugees in the south-eastern Turkish city of Gaziantep, Erdogan, cited by the Anadolu news agency, said: “You cannot bring this terror to an end only through airstrikes.”
He renewed calls for the formation of a zone of protection and a no-fly zone over Syria, saying that moderate fighters in the Syrian opposition had to be strengthened.
