President Kikwete has sent a condolences message to the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Mr Magesa S. Mulongo, following the death of ten pupils of Piyaya Primary School, in Ngorongoro District.
The pupils were swept by floods last Monday as they were trying to cross Losukutane River which was flooded by water following heavy downpour in various parts of the district the previous night.
“ I have been shocked by the reports of the death of 10 Piyaya Primary School pupils while trying to cross Losukutane River following heavy downpour in your area,” he said adding: “It saddened me more to hear that one family lost three children in the incident.”
He said the accident has deprived the nation of its future human resource and dependable members for bringing about social economic development in the country. He asked the regional commissioner to convey his condolences to the bereaved family assuring them of his full prayers and thoughts during the difficult time, according to a statement issued by the State House on Thursday.
