The Spanish doctor was kidnapped from his home in Enugu three weeks ago
The police in Enugu have confirmed the release of the Spaniard, Dr Joe Machimbarrena after almost three weeks in captivity. Dr. Machimbarrena, a medical doctor who works with the Niger Foundation Hospital in Enugu, was kidnapped from his home on April 4.
He was abandoned in a place called Thinkers Corner in the state by his abductors, according to the police.
Enugu police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu said that Machimbarrena looked hale and hearty where he had been abandoned, around 9.30 pm on Friday.
According to Amaraizu, the police have intensified their manhunt for the abductors.
