“We have been here (in Burundi) for about a week. We talked to the government and common people in the Burundian capital Bujumbura. We realized that what media companies have been presenting to us in Kenya before coming here was quite different from the reality,” said David Wafula Wekesa, one of the Kenyan MPs delegates.
Wekesa said, “We cannot say that there are not problems in the country, but we have seen that people are slowly going to their daily businesses ; children are going to school and people do their daily activities.”
After meeting the Speaker of the Burundian National Assembly Pascal Nyabenda earlier this week, the delegation of Kenyan lawmakers said they have learned from a “high representation of women” at the Burundian National Assembly.
Nyabenda told them that the National Assembly has over 36 percent of women. Enditem
