A new audit reveals that the state loses N153 monthly to fraud on its payroll
The Kebbi State government loses N153 million monthly to the 2,800 ghost workers on its pay roll.
Faruku Bunza, the Chairman of the State Salary/Pension and E-payment Reconciliation Committee, revealed this while presenting the committee’s report to Governor Sa’idu Dakingari.
According to him, several irregularities and illegalities were unearthed; including the fact that some retirees are collecting salary and pensions, while the names of some people who are dead still appear on the pay roll.
Responding, the governor said that he was ready to implement all the recommendations made by the committee, adding that new and improved computerised systems would be provided to perfect the e-payment system introduced by the state.
