gtJustin Shows Guts In Brussels

Former Olympic Champion Justin Gatlin ran the fastest time this year on Friday as he clocked 9.77 seconds in the finals of the Diamond League at the Memorial van Damme in Brussels.

Gatlin’s time which is his personal best equaled the mark he set in 2006 which was ghosted from the history books following his ban.

”It is coming back full circle, right,” Gatlin said. ”So, hmmm, a little bit of bittersweet, but I am happy,” the 32-year-old said.

The American made it double on the night as he powered 19.72 seconds to grab the 200 metres. ”I wanted to test my toughness,” he said.

”It is not just one lane on the track,” said Gatlin of Bolt’s dominance. ”I don’t want to go out there and lay down when Usain Bolt takes the stage. I will go out there and push him. … The world wants to see a good rivalry,” he added.
