Rwanda’s U-20 national team, Junior Wasps, whipped the Uganda Hippos in an international friendly match yesterday at Nakivubo stadium, Kampala.

Excellent finishing from Emmanuel Sebanani and Kispson Atuheire earned Rwanda a 2-0 victory ahead of next month’s Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.

This was the second time both countries were meeting. Last month, Rwanda’s U-20 team played against Ugandan counterparts to a 1-all draw in Kigali.

With Rwanda set to face Namibia in the preliminary round of the CAF youth championship qualifiers is will be a major boast for Coach Richard Tardy who is trying to assemble a solid squad which can negotiate all the way into the finals of continental championhips.

In kampala, the junior wasps which had mainly local based players were boasted by Ugandan-based pair of Bonny Bayingana of Express and Charles Mwesigye Tibingana of Proline. The juniors’ wasps returned back last night.

Back on the local scene, SC Kiyovu beat Nyanza 3-1 in a Primus league match played in Southern Province yesterday. The old giants remain in fifth slot tied on 28 points with traditional rivals Rayon Sport.
