Member of Parliament for Ejura- Sekyeredumasi Constituency, Alhaji Mohammed Sualisu Bamba has taken a swipe at the Ghana judiciary tagging them as one of the most corrupt institution in the country.
“People think that only politicians engage in corrupt act but I tell you the judiciary is also corrupt” he declared.
Ghana recently has faced with an unprecedented magnitude of corruption cases exposed by the Ghanaian media. Among other cases are the GYEEDA saga, the Drill Ship saga, the SADA saga, the Isofoton and the recently ‘fresh’ Ghana Revenue Authority and Subah Infosolutions scandal.
The latest corruption perception index report issued by Gall up ranked Ghana the third most corrupt country among 129 countries with free press. Ghana scored 89 percent behind Czech Republic and Lithuania.
The latest Gall up poll was conducted betwixt April and May 2012 on perception of countries with free and limited press around the world and the Gall Up comes on the back of series of investigative reports pointing to corruption in various stages.
However, Alhaji Bamba told Spyghana that, the recent rulings especially the just ended landmark election petition case, by the supreme court of Ghana make it difficult for them to stay clean from corrupt acts.
He continued, the contribution of the Judicial service to the “massive and obvious” corruption in the country cannot be make rubbish of and therefore asked people to stop blaming politicians for solely responsible for corrupt acts.
He thinks that, until Ghanaians see corruption as a disturbing and developmental retarded act which should be fought with a collective effort, all actions taken by government alone would be in futility.
