JTF foils bomb attack in Kano

An attempt by some yet- to be identified persons to attack operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kano today was foiled by the security officers themselves.

According to Daily Times sources in Kano, a suspected terrorist in company of others had thrown an improvised explosive device on a JTF Patrol vehicle conveying many security personnel expected to hit his target and the officers in the vehicle.

However, the bomb was said to have failed to deliver on its mission as a gallant officer in the van was said to have caught the device midair and threw it back at the attackers. The event took place at the Hotoro Eastern bypass during a routine patrol

?An improvised explosive device was thrown at JTF?s patrol vehicle this morning. Tthe bomb was intercepted by a gallant officer who quickly threw it back at the attackers a few?seconds before it exploded, one of the sources said.?

It was learnt that the officers escaped unhurt, adding that they also came under fire in the area.? The account revealed that arrests were made at the scene of the incident
Kano police spokesman, ASP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed the incident but said the command will issue a statement on the incident.
