The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South East Zonal Integration Committee Members, Senator Almadu Ali yesterday explained to Eboyians why the Party endorsed President Jonathan Goodluck as her flag- bear in the 2015 general election.
Senator Ali, who made this disclosure at the PDP Secretariat in Abakaliki said that it is in keeping with the democratic practice, copied from the United States of America that ? a sitting President be given to right of first refusal, to say he does not want to contest, and in that case, an alternative can be sorted out?.
Consequently, he sated, since President Jonathan has agreed to contest the 2015 general election, the PDP therefore has made him the official candidate of the Party.
According to him, not with standing the position of the Party on the subject ?we will still allow people to put their paper.?
?Everybody going to the PDP convention knows who the official candidate is?, he maintained.
On why the committee is in Ebonyi state, he stated ?our mission is purely for party matters. This National Integration Committee was put on by the National Chairman, to go ground to bring harmony in the brother hood of the PDP in the South East zone.?
The Former National Chairman of the PDP further explained ?Ebonyi State has done well, our coming is to ensure that this performance is carried on and that PDP record 100% victory in the 2015 general election?
He called an the Party faithfully to feel free and suggest ways the Party can move forward ?you can advise the party on how it can be run if you feel there is something wrong?
He, thereafter, urged Party faithful at all levels, to close ranks and work for the victory of the Party.
Speaking at the occasion Govern Martin Elach said ?Ebonyi State is a PDP state and a peaceful State for that matter?.
According to him, those party faithful, who left have returned having met the party requirements.
He, however, stated that those who were involved in killing or maiming of life in the previous election had been asked to go and first reconcile with the families of their victims before they could be allowed into their fold because they violated the culture, norms and values of Ebonyi people.
