Ahead of 2015 Presidential election, ?Governor ?Babangida Aliyu ?of Niger state, on Tuesday disclosed decisions reached by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to endorse President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term come 2015 was unanimously agreed on and that whoever does otherwise is a saboteur.
Aliyu dropped the hint at a media platform in Minna organized by the State Correspondent Chapel to mark his 59th birthday that, ?the party did not print only one copy of the presidential nomination form
ahead of the 2015 general elections”.
He said this cannot be true but that ?whoever is doing contrary is either not a party member or a trouble maker or he is looking for identity or just wants to be noticed by the society?
According to him ?my party said it printed one copy? I don?t know whether anybody is quoted as saying that. Nobody has been quoted as saying my party printed one copy but where all the PDP governors came together and endorsed the sole candidature of Mr. President, the whole PDP Senators and members of the House of Representatives did the same.
“The Board of Trustee (BoT) of the party did the same, the executive committee members of the party ratified all these decisions; unless you are either not a party member or you ?are a trouble maker or you are looking for identity or you just want to be noticed by the society.
??Our decision means that we expect that the President is the party?s sole candidate after buying the form, but whether it is the one that is printed or not, I don?t know about that one. Like I said, nobody said so, and we cannot credit anybody as saying that, but I believe that somebody wrote it quickly?.
Speaking on why it is almost difficult for deputy governors to succeed their boss, Governor Aliyu said ?I did not change my position of the saying that God gives power. In arrangement, it is like the zoning gives more privilege just like I am here.
?I know what is on the ground and obviously I did not have interest on who succeeds me and also I must have it at the back of my mind that not necessary that my preference must be God?s preference. I think we should understand that no matter the number of people that are running for Governorship at the end of the day there will be one Governor?.
?I am a living witness and there are many situations like that, what so ever you are planning against your opponent, give windows for God?s will ?because he can call upon us at any given time, most importantly we must know how to relate with our people, Aliyu added.”
