Information available to 247ureports.com obtain through a competent source within the security apparatus staged in the Nigerian capital of Abuja indicates that the ongoing impeachment saga unfolding in Nasarawa State and other States controlled by the All Progressive Congress [APC] party was being managed out of the presidency?s office in Abuja.

The source pointed to a recent meeting [last week] between the National Security Adviser [NSA], Dasuki, the chairman of the People Democratic Party [PDP] and the deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Hon Dameshi B. Luka ? held in Bauchi State at the residence of the governor of Bauchi State. According to the source, the meeting was to decipher the already set up battle plan against the governor of Nasarawa State, Malam Al Makura. The source also revealed that as the meeting proceeded that the PDP chairman would receive telephone calls from the President periodically to be updated on the progress of the deliberations.

Following the behind the doors meeting in Bauchi, the Nasarawa state assembly members were invited to Abuja by major stakeholders of the PDP from Nasarawa. The meeting was held on the weekend of June 30 ? with a majority of the Nasarawa lawmakers in attendance ? twenty members of the state assembly out of the total twenty four attended the meeting.  The four members out of the House of Representatives representing constituencies in Nasarawa along with two of the Senators from Nasarawa were in attendance for the meeting. It was at the meeting that the matching orders were handed to the Nasarawa State legislators to proceed with a water-tight impeachment of the state governor ? who happens to be a member of the opposition party, the APC.

Upon return to Nasarawa State, the lawmaker took to immediate action. The lawmakers called up a new probe into a procurement contract handled under the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board [NSUBED] valued at 1.989billion for the supply of 6,000 desks and chairs to senior and junior secondary schools in the state.

Interestingly, the lawmakers made eye popping discovery. The unearthed that an estimated N982million were stolen by proxies of the State governor under the guise of procuring desks and chairs for schools. On the first level, it was gathered that the two key players who participated in the looting for the procurement contracts were relatives to the governor. The secretary to the NSUBED happens to be a direct in-law to the governor ? and the consultant hired to procure the items, Usman Sarki Ahmed happens to be a direct blood relative to the governor.

It was discovered that Usman Ahmed had presented a company which he claims to be a foreign company based in China by the name, USA. The company was to handle the procurement contract. Upon further probing, it was discovered that the said foreign company belonged Usman Sarki Ahmed [USA]. When Usman Sarki Ahmed was asked to provide the address to the company in China, he was not able to provide the address.

More investigation uncovered that less than 10% of the 6000 desks and chairs were procured and supplied to date ? after one year that the contract was signed. Also, missing sums of money to the estimated tune of N700million was traced to Usman Sarki Ahmed ? and N282million to the secretary of NSUBED.

The Nasarawa state assembly probe was made public on Friday July 4 by the Chairman House committee on Information and Security, Hon. Mohd Baba Ibaku representing Udegi loko constituency. In his address to the public, the lawmaker pointed boldly to the seat of the governor as the principal responsible for the rot. He stated that the state assembly may invited the state governor as the investigation continues to unfold. He added that invitation to officials of the NSUBED have already been sent for them to appear before the Nasarawa State legislators.

Stakeholders within the Nasarawa State who spoke with 247ureports.com attest that the actions of the state assembly appears in-line with the matching orders handed to them in Abuja. They believe the impeachment of the seat governor is near.

But the Nasarawa State government in responding to 247ureports.com, discounted the impeachment threat as mere rumor. The Chief Press Secretary [CPS] to the Nasarawa State Governor, Iliyasu Yabuku termed the impeachment threat as wild speculations. His words, ?This is so speculative. This is rumor. As far as we are concerned, the governor has nothing to fear. We are fully behind the rule of law. The lawmakers can do what they like, we don?t care. We are here to see their actions?.

The Bauchi state government, in responding to 247ureports.com inquiry termed the allegation of it?s governor?s involvement in the spat of impeachments, termed it the figment of the formulator?s imagination. In the words of the Chief Press Secretary [CPS] to the Bauchi State governor, Shola Michael ?it is the figment of the formulator?s imagination. Absolutely no truth in the assertion. The governor is busy in Bauchi state trying to complete his landmark projects ? such as the Airport and the Hospital amongst others. We support Muazu completely but we are not involved in any of the impeachments. Leave the governor out of it, please?.

Stay tuned. The Nasarawa State legislators are expected to continue with the probe of the 1.989billion desk and chair procurement.
