The Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA) has held a two-day advocacy workshop to train and sensitise journalists on accurate business reporting, especially on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

The training workshop sponsored by the BoG and Ecobank Ghana, brought journalists from the print, electronic and online media at the Kofi Anan ICT Centre in Accra, from 7th – 8th November, 2017.

In his welcome statement at the ope Mr. Suleiman Mustapha, Coordinator of JBA, said the workshop is aimed to equip journalists with skills to be able to advocate good policies for businesses and SMEs in Ghana.

The Association, he said, was grateful to the BoG and Ecobank the Pan African Bank, for their continuous support for the annual training programmes to equip journalists with the requisite knowledge on how to report on small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

According to him, this annual training workshops for the Members of JBA, has indeed sensitised journalists on business reporting, especially on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs). And it has also propelled them in bringing the numerous challenges businesses face to the attention of policy makers to address them.

The workshop saw the participation of journalists from the print, electronic and online media, and Participants were taken through topics such as monetary policy, promoting financial stability, regulation of microfinance industry, interpreting financial statements and the role of journalists in economic reporting with resource persons drawn from various sectors of the BoG
Present at the opening of the training were the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison and his entourage, Mr. Morgan Asiedu, the Executive Director of Legal and Human Resource at Ecobank and his team and many others.
