Six-year-old Daniel gets his first book publishedArticle | July 22, 2012 – 12:00am | By Iquo Eke
It is by no means strange that five and six year old children have active imaginations. Some even have imaginary friends, while others are quite perceptive of their surroundings and situations around them. For Daniel Fagbohunlu, these steps were just the beginning; the six year old had to put his imagination to paper with a story and illustrations to send home the message.
Jake and The Germs is a new book, the first by Daniel Fagbohunlu. It is published by Cate Communications and has colourful and apt illustrations by Ibrahim Ganiyu. Although it is not a voluminous book, the text shows the depth of appreciation for life which this young son of a doctor has within him.
According to Daniel,?”This is a story that I imagined and wrote down so that other young children like me can learn something from it.”?
His peers and teachers in Carol School, Lagos all had glowing comments about the writer when the book was launched in his school on July 18, 2012.
Parents should take a cue from Dr. Charles Fagbohunlu, who encouraged his son?s dream of writing a book once he realised the boy had a story to tell. Who knows, this may just be another Caine or Commonwealth Prize winner in the making.
