Is Visiting Dublin Worth It

Some people would say no. Most of us, though, would definitely say yes! Ireland is a land of wonder and history and Dublin makes no exception. Take the time someday, spending your vacation there should prove an amazing experience, even if you expect otherwise.

Starting with St. Patrick’s Cathedral, you should get a nice idea of what architecture 800 years ago was like. Yes, it was founded back in 1191 by Archbishop Comyn. And in the years between 1844 and 1869, the National Cathedral was renovated nicely. We should all thank Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness for this charitable act! Sadly, some of the old structure was lost, but now it has a neat neo-gothic look, which still compels people to visit again and again. With the help of the international calls nowadays, it’s easy to book a stay in a hotel or reserve a spot on a tour bus.

One of the places to pay attention to is the Temple Bar.

Funny thing is, that it was originally decided to be wrecked. A new bus and rail terminal was going to take the place. It’s really worth visiting, it has been made into something of a bohemian quarter. You can meet artists there, mostly street ones and enjoy their company and the nice international cuisine the pub offers. The area can have bad moments, too. Sometimes there are wild parties on “stag”. The Temple Bar has been developed in the commercial aspect to the most.

The National Gallery is situated right in the Dublin centre. If you are a person of art, you should definitely see the Irish and European collections, being showed there. Since its opening in 1864, it had near 500 works of famous artists showed there. Names like Hogarth, Poussin, Monet, Degas, Goya and Picasso are among the authors of the paintings. The National Gallery is very strong on Irish artists. Recently, it has been expanded with a “Millennium Wing”. Just call Ireland and take a look.

Still, with a lot more to be seen, Dublin is a place of history, architecture and culture. And not only, of course. Who hasn’t heard of the famous Irish pubs? It is a city to be discovered and tasted. I wish you a safe trip!
