GHANA DEFENDER Samuel Inkoom has expressed the wish to have former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah return to the team.

Appiah, who captained the Black Stars on two consecutive FIFA World Cup appearances, retired from the Ghana team after the 2010 Mundial in South Africa.

But Inkoom, who is an integral member of the current Black Stars team, insisted the vacuum created by Appiah’s exit had still not been filled.

The former Kotoko right full back disclosed that he and his colleagues still missed Appiah’s experience during games.

According to him, the inspiration that Appiah brought to the Black Stars was currently lacking, praying the ex-Ghana captain would return from retirement.

Inkoom said Chelsea ace Michael Essien’s absence in the Black Stars in recent times was also being felt by the team.

He prayed that the Chelsea midfielder, who just returned from a long lay-off due to injury, would be fully fit to join the Black Stars.

Inkoom noted that the inclusion in the Ghana team of Essien and Appiah, who were both experienced in the game, would impact positively on the fortunes of the Black Stars.
