The Cross River governor will cover their camp costs in Calabar

Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, has approved an all expense paid camping for the U-17 National Team, the Golden Eaglets.

The camping begins in Calabar on Sunday, and Imoke, a sport-loving governor, agreed to foot the bill.

Speaking on the approval, NFF President, Aminu Maigari, thanked the governor for agreeing to host the team.

“The NFF is very grateful to Governor Imoke, his administration and the good people of Cross River State for this wonderful gesture. Of course, Governor Imoke has always been there for the NFF and for Nigerian football,” he said.

“He has always been ready to host our matches and we also remember how Calabar emerged one of the best centres during the FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009. The Super Eagles have played three big matches in Calabar during his tenure. We believe this gesture will continue.”

The U-17 Team is in the second phase of its camping programme, as Head Coach, Manu Garba, and his crew go through the process of building a new team for the 2013 African U-17 Championship qualifying series which begin in September with a clash against Niger Republic.
