For striving to achieve a feat which has been described as unprecedented in the annals of legislative business in Imo state, unrestricted encomiums have continued to pour in, by the citizens of the State in appreciation of the monumental achievements recorded by the Imo State House of Assembly which has been adjudged the best and most productive in the South East and the second most productive in the country.
Performance indicators which was recently released by the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, through its information pool, shows that the Imo State House of Assembly came tops in the South East zone and second in the country after recording a landmark passage of 36 bills and over 200 motions into law in 2 years, after Nassarawa Assembly?s 51 bills, which made them tops in the country.
Some residents of the state who spoke on the development, extolled the leadership styles of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, for his innovative ideas, as well as the entire members of the House for their cooperation and selflessness in service to the people of the state.
They stated that the harmonious working relationship existing between the Honourable members of the House, irrespective of their political party affiliations, underscored the high level of patriotism and maturity in putting the affairs of the state topmost against all odds.
They also commended the executive arm of the government in the state for complementing the efforts of the House in ensuring that laws that have direct bearing on the people are given prompt assent.
They further noted that to guarantee sustenance of the feat recorded so far, closer collaboration between the two arms of government (executive and legislature) were needed to ensure that Imo state continues to blaze the trail in all spheres of democratic governance.
The people again affirmed to redouble their level of support and prayers to the Honourable members to enable them surpass this feat as they get ready to enter into the final lap of their legislative tenure.
