Imo Assembly back from Recess

2348038812641Full legislative activities are expected to kick-start at the floor of the chambers of the Imo State House of Assembly?tomorrow, after their end of the annual recess.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, had during plenary of the last legislative year of the House, announced the commencement of the House?s annual recess which would pave way for the beginning of a new legislative year.

Speaking to House Correspondent, the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Mr. Emeka Ahaneku, explained that the recess afforded lawmakers the opportunity of appraising their performances in the last legislative year, as well as acquiring requisite skills and trainings, with the view to improving on their job for the continued service of the good people of the State.

He maintained that the State Assembly, in the last years had continued to set the pace for their colleagues in other states to follow, through the robust and effective representation which have impacted positively in the lives of the citizens of the state.

Mr. Ahaneku, pointed out that the people-oriented bills and motions passed by the House in the last three years had ensured the smooth and timely provision of democracy dividends which is currently scattered in every nook and cranny of the state, adding that such feat had earned the House great reputations and enviable laurels, even as it recently won the most productive Assembly in the South East zone and second in the country.

He commended the sterling leadership qualities of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, whom he also described as the system stabilizer, for his untiring efforts towards stirring the ship of the House to greatness, adding that his maturity, humility, core administrative values, as well as open door policy had ensured that the Assembly remained on the part of peace, unity and corresponding success.

The SSA media however, attributed the success story of the House to the undiluted cordial and harmonious relationship existing between it and the executive arm of government in the State, stressing that such atmosphere of peace, understanding, all-round success, as well as the strict adherence to the principles of separation of powers had culminated to the sustenance of good governance in the state.

Mr. Ahaneku also applauded the total dedication to duty, sacrifices and selflessness of members of the Assembly to the service of the State, pointing out that despite their different political leanings and ideologies, the members have resolved to collectively pull their experiences and legislative resources together for the betterment of their respective constituencies against their personal interests.

He asserted that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, was full of gratitude to the good people of the State for their continued prayers and support to the House and noted that such overwhelming support and solidarity from the Imo people over the years have kept the House on the part of progress, while urging them to sustain the tempo.
