The All Progressives Congress, APC, has affirmed the candidacy of the Speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, as its standard bearer for the Imo North Senatorial seat in the next year?s general election.

According to delegates who unanimously voted for his candidacy, Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, as a grass root politician, possess sterling leadership qualities which are in tandem with the requisite aims and objectives establishing the party.

It maintained that with the enviable legacies achieved by the Speaker in Okigwe zone, as well as, in stirring the ship of the state legislature to a greater height, there was no gain saying the fact that the Speaker would collectively galvanize the needed support from Okigwe people to deliver the party at all levels of the electoral contest.

In his acceptance speech, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, thanked the party for the implicit confidence reposed in him, while pledging his continued loyalty and support to the ideals of the party, which he said, carters greatly for the general interest of the people.
He noted that the journey towards emancipating Okigwe zone from the shackles of under-development had just began, adding that it was a statutory responsibility of every Okigwe man and woman to key into his proposed agenda to collectively garner a quantum leap of transformation in the area.

The Speaker further, averred that gone were periods when politicians down played the development of the zone for their personal interests and the interests of their god-fathers, while calling on the electorates to narrow their choice of candidate to the person who had shown enough capacity and strong-will to uplift the zone out of the doldrums of under-development.

He added that if elected, his representation would focus on massive attraction of sustainable infrastructure to the zone, empowerment of women and youths into meaningful ventures, resuscitation of the agricultural sector, as well as giving out scholarships to indigent students in the area to enable them realize their God-given talents.
