Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has affirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the December elections.
On Monday, at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Accra, Dampare emphasized the police service’s readiness to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The IGP detailed that police personnel would be deployed to all polling centres where the exhibition exercise would occur.
“From the start of the election process, we will be actively engaged to ensure peace, security, law, and order throughout the electoral period,” Dampare said.
“We are committed to working collaboratively to guarantee a smooth and secure election.”
Dampare also urged all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the police to perform their duties effectively.
“We encourage everyone to act within the law and support our efforts so that Ghana can benefit from a successful and orderly election,” he added.
