Ask state government to secure their lives

Igbo traders in Adamawa State, on Monday, took to the streets in protest of the killing of their kinsmen.

The killing of three Igbo traders by unknown persons at about 1pm on Muhammed Mustafa Way sparked up the protest.

Economic activities in the state capital, Yola, were paralysed following protests in which aggrieved traders almost got violent and clashed with security operatives.

Most of the major streets were deserted as the traders marched through, chanting solidarity songs.

The traders urged the state government to address the insecurity problem in the state, adding that they lived in fear both at home and in the markets.

The State Police spokesperson, Nemuel Yoila, could not be reached for comment as at the time of filling this report.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to the State Government, Ari Timnu, said the government had banned the use of commercial motorcycles in five major towns in the state because assailants use motorcycles to perpetrate their acts.
