Ifeanyi Ubah Is A Burden

0
Since he indicated interest to vie for the office of the governor of Anambra state, he has done so with little regard for decorum. It is to be noted that since his?interrogation in the cell of the?EFCC for alleged sharp practices?he has turned rabid in condemning anybody he perceived as?standing in his way to becoming the next governor of Anambra after Obi. It is yet to be established on what justification he considers himself apt for the office he seeks so desperately if not as a fallback remedy to shore up his?bankrupt business.
?For one, Anambra state has grown beyond the cowboy?and flamboyant approach which he personifies. The uncouth manner of some of his political friends as well as his up- at- them- manner of doing things is enough to send the state back to the?dark days.?He will bring back to government all those characters whose disposition are at variance with good conducts. Note that it took political wisdom for Mr. Obi?to have distilled those elements from the state and return discipline to the state. If within six months for his government to leave office and he is still commissioning projects and giving cheques to schools then the man?should be encouraged to find somebody as committed as himself if not more. The state can ill afford a governor that will use her resources to services?debts. A governor who is prepared to buy everybody within his government private jets. The fact that he does not lose sleep over the enormity of debt burden is a testimony to the fact that he would care less if Anambra is thrice in debt.
?
Recall that no matter how anybody may hate Governor Obi, he has done for the state what most other state governors are incapable of doing. At least, Anambra is not in debt even when she is yet to receive special subvention as a result of the discovery of oil. Such cannot be said of a lot of others states said to be doing well with enormous debt profile. Even before Ubah has contested the office he was said to?be building?a mini government house in his Nnewi home, another case of clannishness.?Truth is that Anambra state has not the kind of money that will offset Ubah’s debt and at the same time satisfy his expensive taste. Forget his claim of turning the state into a an industrial hub with his Chinese business partners. That is baloney!?The young man has done well for himself and will do himself a world of good to continue in that capacity rather than dabble into the governorship of Anambra state as the last straw to save his business. And he does not also think that he is handicapped educationally to lead a state that produced Mellon Professor of History at Harvard Kenneth Onwuka Dike,?great Poet Christopher Okigbo, his brother Pius, literary Icon Achebe, father of Nigerian Independence Zik,?first Quartermaster General of Nigerian army Ojukwu, first Nigerian to win a gold medal in international sporting activity Ifeajuna, Computer wizard Emeagwali, Mathematical wizard Chike Obi etc. If he is not intimidated by the array of these stars to recant his ways? I am sure the Anambra voters will place him where he belongs on?November 16th.
