Photographers of any nationality can participate in a contest.
The XVII International Humanitarian Photography Award Luis Valtue?a is organized by M?dicos del Mundo (?doctors of the world?).
The contest was created as a tribute to Luis Valtue?a, Flors Sirera, Manuel Madrazo and Mercedes Navarro, aid workers from the organization killed in Rwanda in 1997 and Bosnia in 1995 while doing humanitarian work.
Photos must address humanitarian action, international cooperation and/or social exclusion (human rights infringement, armed conflicts, natural disasters, issues of refugee and immigrant populations, socially excluded groups, etc.), and/or reflect the joint efforts aimed at building a more just and egalitarian world.
Each participant can submit up to 10 photographs, which can be part of a series or not. They may submit color photographs and/or black and white. Only photographs taken between January 2011 and October 2013 will be accepted. Works presented in previous editions will not be accepted. The photographs must be submitted in digital format.
The first prize winner will receive a grant of EUR?6,000 (US$8,110) intended to carry out a photographic project about topics related to the activity of M?dicos del Mundo.
The deadline for entries is Oct. 31.
