Christians have been urged to do more to assist all to smooth over their difference and to live in genuine peace and reconciliation.

The Reverend Father Sylvester Frimpong, Parish Priest of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mamponteng in the Kwabre East Municipality, said they should help dial down tension in society.

He was presenting the Eucharistic homily to mark this year’s Christmas day celebration.

The birth of Christ required of the faithful, total submission to the “will of God” adding that Christians should show love and affection for their fellow men.

“If God neither judged nor condemned us but has overlooked our sins in order to search for us, we have every reason to forgive those who have wronged us and seek reconciliation with all.”

“We should endeavour to seek out those we ourselves wronged throughout the year and beg for forgiveness in order to have real divine peace”, he told the congregation.

The Rev Fr Frimpong said the birth of Christ brought peace and unity between humans and God.

He added that it was therefore important for Christians do away with intolerance, ethic, racial, religious and all forms of discrimination.

They needed to build bridges of peace and to fellowship with all people.

“If Christ accepted to be born in a manger and we were happy to go into the manger and rejoice with him as was portrayed by the shepherds and the three wise men, then we should be content with what we have and who we are.”

“We should learn to live in simplicity and humility”, he said.

He asked that they show respect and to have compassion for the poor, the needy and the aged.
