The course is being organized by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) and the Weightlifting Federation of Africa (WFA) with IWF certified instructor Kyle Pierce who also doubles as the technical director of GWF as lecturer.

According to the President of GWF, Mr Ben Nunoo-Mensah the coach will be equipped with the necessary skills to beef up the technical team of Ghana Weightlifting.
He explained that coach Abubakar after the course will be attached to the University of Ghana Sports Directorate to supervise weightlifting.
The coach will also be in charge of the youth development program of GWF in which the president explained that the program is targeted at the youth below the age of 13years.
Mr Nunoo-Mensah however, noted that coach Abubakar Taylor will become the first Ghanaian weightlifting coach to earn the IWF certified Class 1 coaches’ licence.
The Ghana Weightlifting Federation has upgraded the technical know-how of about 27 coaches and the federation can boast of IWF certified Class 2 coaches.
