Two businessmen were killed by unknown gunmen in an attack in Nigeria’s central state of Nasarawa, local police confirmed Saturday.
The attack occurred Friday in Garaku market, located in the Kokona local government area of the state, said Ramhan Nansel, a police spokesperson in Nasarawa in a statement issued Saturday in Lafia, the state capital.
Being informed of the attack, the commissioner of police in the state, Bola Longe, swiftly deployed operatives to the scene where the two corpses were recovered and taken to the hospital for postmortem, said the spokesperson, who pledged that the police would do all within their powers to bring “the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.”
He called on members of the public to volunteer useful information that would lead to the arrest of the attackers and gave assurance that such information would be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Enditem
