The Director General of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), ?Mr Richard Anamoo?has indicated that the Authority will soon unveil a brand new electronic data processing center to ease data dispensation at the Port and enhance efficiency in the port business.
He says when completed, the Ghc 3.2million Data center which is located near the Customs long room will ease the burden of customers rushing in and out of the Golden Jubilee and the Depot 10 terminals for all their entire documentation processes.
?We do not think that it is necessary for people to walk to Golden Jubilee or the Depot 10 just to process documents. It is unnecessary. For the people who go to the Golden Jubilee or the banking hall, it is all about data and documentation, and that can be done outside the terminal/port?. He said.
He said with the coming of the Data Center, all documents can be processed in the center and clients will only go to the terminals for their container services.
He revealed that the facility will be very much protected and the safety of the facility and people who enter it will never be compromised. ?You will have to go through the necessary security checks with your electronic bar codes and all that before you can enter. Is going to be highly restricted. It means what is happening at the Golden Jubilee and the depot 10 will seize?.
He admitted that there might be the need for a few documentation issues to take place elsewhere but for one to start an entire process with an importer tagging along, ?it will be a thing of the past? He concluded.
The Project Engineer of the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority, Komla Ofori hinted that the Project is about 48% accomplished and all efforts are being made to see to its successful completion.
