The fee is believed to be in the region of between 23 million (27 million dollars) and 27 million euros. Dortmund’s general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke has refused to confirm the reports.
Goetze moved to Bayern three years ago for 37 million euros but has struggled to hold down a place in the starting eleven, with coach Pep Guardiola using him mainly as a squad player.
Before Euro 2016, Goetze had expressed a desire to stay at Bayern and fight for his place, but subsequent statements from the club’s general manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and incoming coach Carlo Ancelotti gave him little hope of doing so.
Goetze would strengthen a Dortmund side weakened by the loss of star players Mats Hummels (Bayern), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Manchester United) and Ilkay Guendogan (Manchester City) for a combined sum of more than 100 million euros.
