He said this has been clearly demonstrated by the accomplishments of the Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) and other successful state-owned entities in recent times.

Alhaji Nurudeen made the observation on the recognition bestowed on GOIL at the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) 27th awards ceremony held in Accra.

At the event, GOIL was adjudged the CIMG Petroleum Company of the year, while Mr Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli, GOIL Managing Director, who is also known as Togbe Adza-Nye IV, Dutorfia of Ziavi in the Volta Region, was declared Marketing Man of the Year.

The GNA Acting General Manager said both achievements are commendable and noted that GOIL continue to serve as the foremost indigenous oil marketing company and champion of Ghanaian excellence in the realm of prudent business management.

“The Management and Staff of the Ghana News Agency join the Board, Management and Staff of GOIL to celebrate the noble achievement, which should motivate other public entities to aspire to the highest level,” he said.

The Acting GNA General Manager recounted that in recent times GOIL industrial standard was elevated for operating Oil Marketing Company (OMC) in Ghana with the introduction of Eraspec industry-proven multi-fuel analysing equipment in the country.

The equipment, which enables the measurements of fuel component concentrations and of other complex parameters was introduced as part of GOIL’s broader pragmatic targets, set to dominate the downstream oil industry to ensure that Ghanaian oil marketing companies took control of the industry.

Alhaji Issahaq urged GOIL to continue to work in the best interest of Ghanaians and improve the quality of fuel supply in the country.

He said as part of its mandate, the Agency would continue to play its role as part of government’s comprehensive communication policy that seeks to harness the information arm of the State to build a viable, united and cohesive nation-state.

He said GNA would continue to be instrumental in carrying government messages, policies, plans and programmes to the people, including those in the remotest areas of the country.

It would also convey the views, expectations and concerns of the citizenry to government as feedback.

“GNA’s operations give voice to the vast majority of citizens living in rural areas, thereby promoting good governance and reducing the urban bias of news reportage”, Alhaji Nurudeen noted.
