The Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has inaugurated its own chapter of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG).
The new chapter is expected to equip students with additional knowledge and skills to appreciate the importance of communication to ensure development.
Its prime objective is to promote research across the country in order to make a positive impact in the lives of the underprivileged and vulnerable in society.
Rector of Ghana Institute of Journalism, Dr Wilberforce Dzisah, in a key note address called on GRASAG to desist from partisan considerations to maintain the good image of the association and discharge their duties diligently.
He assured that Management of the Institute will continue to collaborate with student body to ensure that the welfare of the students are addressed.
“Management will continue to collaborate with student body and practice an open door policy to erase the antagonism mindset,” he said .
The National president of GRASAG, Mr Raymond .K. Ayilu , who inaugurated the new Chapter, noted that the mandate of GRASAG is not to serve as a parallel structure against the authorities of the institution but rather to work together to ensure the growth of the students and management.
He urged the newly elected executives of GIJ-GRASAG who were sworn in at the ceremony to protect and promote the interest of all students and not their parochial interests.
He congratulated the new executives for taking a bold decision to inaugurate the chapter on GIJ campus.
In his remarks, the President of the GIJ chapter of GRASAG ,Mr. Francis Atayure Abirigo, reiterated that the objective of the executives is to seek the welfare of the students.
He assured that the executives will work closely with management to ensure that growth of the institution.

Mr. Richie Asiedu, Secretary , Sima Elimas, Women Commissioner and Mr Stephen Essoun, Treasurer
