EC Chairperson Charlotte Osei announced the suspension when the presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo filed his forms at the commission to contest the 2016 presidential election.

Osei has also directed EC officials in all the constituencies to receive the nomination forms, but not to take money from the aspirants as filing fees for now.

Local media reports indicated later that five other presidential candidates had filed their nomination papers without the accompanying fee. Enditem
