Ghana’s active COVID-19 cases have jumped to 1,311, according to the latest data by Ghana Health Service (GHS) Monday.

The GHS said the country’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases stood at 164,164, while 1,448 people have lost their lives because of the pandemic.

The Ghanian government has taken measures to curb the spread of the virus since the country recorded its first two confirmed cases of the virus on March 12, 2020. In March this year, the government lifted most of the restrictions as the country saw a decline in infections.

In recent weeks, however, Ghana has seen a rise in COVID-19 infections. The GHS has urged the public to be cautious and carry out social distancing to prevent more infections.

As of now, more than 16 million Ghanaians have received jabs of COVID-19 vaccines. Enditem
