The first of its kind in Ghana, the awards will honor companies and individuals for their accomplishments and strides in Ghana?s construction industry. It will also serve to showcase how the construction industry is pivotal to the economy of the nation whiles recognizing and rewarding companies who are pushing new frontiers in the industry and have been exceptional in the past years.

Speaking to the press at a briefing, Derrick N.A Tagoe, Project Coordinator at InstinctWave (organisers of the highly recognized Ghana Telecom Awards) revealed the euphoria of the awards is picking up and has brought excitement to major industry players. He also expressed satisfaction with the way the industry has accepted the maiden edition of the Ghana Construction Awards.

We are excited at the uptake of the Ghana Construction Awards. The industry has accepted us well. Our target has been accomplished in terms of industry acceptance, now we look forward to delivering on our promises.

?The construction awards is billed to be an industry changing event. With construction contributing about 12% of Ghana?s GDP, we cannot undermine the role of the industry in contributing to national development,? he said.

The impact of construction to the infrastructural development of any country cannot be overlooked. Infrastructural development is key to the growth of any economy. The awards will highlight achievements of the industry particularly to Ghana?s economy.

In Ghana for instance, the government has invested a lot into infrastructural development. From roads, bridges, hospitals to housing projects, our government hints on the necessity of the construction industry.
Our ultimate aim is to see a well-defined and highly developed industry. The awards will be an incentive to construction firms not to slack but rather improve. We hope to raise the benchmark with how contractors; both local and foreign execute their projects.

He noted that, ?The event will also present the opportunity for stakeholders to advocate for the industrialization of the country by way of investments in the area of civil engineering, building construction, industrial construction and residential construction?.

We hope to achieve the same impact with the Ghana Construction Awards as with the Ghana Telecom Awards. The impact of the Ghana Telecom Awards on the ICT and Telecom industry has been massive and we hope to replicate that in the construction industry with the maiden and subsequent edition of the GCA.

The Ghana Construction Awards comes off at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on the 27th of November, 2015.
