The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (IMC) has called an emergency meeting of all stakeholders for Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the Accra Sports Stadium, beginning at 3pm, to discuss preparations for upcoming elections and the medical registration of professional boxers.
The meeting will cover two primary agenda items: the schedule and conduct of elections for key positions within the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), and the registration of boxers for medical and health screening at the Lapaz Community Hospital.
The call for the emergency meeting comes a day after candidates contesting the GBA elections submitted their nomination documents to the IMC on Tuesday, May 19. The Congress and Elections have been confirmed for June 4 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
IMC Coordinator Gideon Oyiadzo, widely known as Jingles, said the committee had made considerable progress in laying the groundwork for a credible electoral process and a more structured future for the sport. He noted that the IMC had developed a dedicated website and compiled a comprehensive database of all professional boxers in Ghana, while maintaining active engagement with stakeholders and the media throughout the transition period.
Oyiadzo expressed confidence that the June 4 elections would be conducted smoothly and that the process would ultimately strengthen the governance and direction of boxing in Ghana.
