NGO distributes relief materials to the displaced

Residents of about fifteen communities in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have been displaced due to a two-day heavy rainfall, a State Emergency Management Agency’s (SEMA) official told journalists at the weekend.

Igboke Umunna, SEMA’s executive secretary, disclosed that the downpour, which affected Alike, Achara, Inyimagu, Akunakuna, Igbudu, Ndieche, Ndinkoshi, Okwerike, Ekahufu, Obegu and Ekpomaka communities among others, also destroyed properties worth millions of naira.

According to him, the state had a record of 332,938 victims of natural disaster and about 50,000 victims who were yet to be attended to.

Meanwhile, a Non Governmental Organisation, Chinedu Ogah Foundation (COF), has started the distribution of relief materials to victims of the flood
