Nigerian highlife star Flavour has said he cannot be tied to one partner, declaring in a video on his Instagram Stories that he belongs to the whole world.

In the clip, a woman asks how many people feature in his personal life. Speaking in Igbo, the singer replied that while some men can be kept at home, he is an explorer who is not domesticated and refuses to be caged.

The comments sit neatly with the image he has long cultivated. Flavour, whose real name is Chinedu Okoli, performs under the nickname Ijele, and titled his fifth studio album Ijele the Traveler in 2017.

His domestic life has drawn steady attention. The singer has two daughters with former beauty queen Sandra Okagbue and another daughter with former beauty queen Anna Banner, who won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) crown in 2013.

One of Nigeria’s most recognisable highlife voices, Flavour built his fame on hits such as Nwa Baby and Ada Ada, blending Igbo highlife with Afropop across a career stretching back to the late 2000s.
