“Four persons including three in Ngagara (in north of the capital Bujumbura) and one in Kanyosha (in the south of the capital) were killed during gunshots and grenade explosions in criminals’ attacks,” said Moise Nkurunziza, Burundian Police Deputy-Spokesman at a press briefing.
“The three victims in Ngagara include a shopkeeper, a bank agent and another one whose corpse was discovered today (Sunday) morning in a drainage channel in Ngagara. The victim’s identity has not yet been found,” said Nkurunziza.
He stated that during the operation in Ngagara, three police agents were injured while three criminals were caught.
“During the operation, 22 persons were arrested in Ngagara and seven others were arrested today (Sunday) morning in Cibitoke,” said Nkurunziza.
He indicated that two guns, one pistol, two grenades and several ammunitions were seized.
According to him, grenade explosions and gunshots were also heard in various neighborhoods including Jabe, Nyakabiga and Musaga, targeting police agents, but no casualties took place.
