
The fire outbreak that gutted the two halls of the boys hostel of Badagry Grammar School, Badagry, Lagos started at the late hours of Sunday, January 9, when the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) restored the light.
However, the Lagos State Fire Service were alerted, according to an official of the service, Mr Rasaq Fadipe, “and two fire trucks battled to put the fire off.
“Beds and personal belongings of students were destroyed. Fortunately, students were in class observing prep and no life was lost,” Fadipe told Daily Times.
Meanwhile, Fadipe advised people to carry out maintenance on wires and wiring systems in buildings as most of the wires might have developed openings or faults due to much usage.
“Their life span might have elapsed so they should be checked. Also cockroaches and rats might have opened some of them.”
He also urged people to have fire extinguishers.
Earlier, Daily Times reported that a serious fire outbreak gutted two halls of the boys hostel of Badagry Grammar School and officials from the Lagos Fire Service, the Ojo station were available with their fire trucks to dounce the fire with the effort of badagry fire truck.
