TEHRAN — An explosion in a research center in Iran’ southern port city of Bandar Abbas has claimed the lives of five people, Iran’s state IRINN TV reported on Thursday.
In the incident in the agricultural research center, nine others were injured. Electricity malfunction has been reported to be the cause of the incident. (Iran-blast)

KATHMANDU — The Nepalese government on Thursday extended the tenure of two transitional justice mechanisms by a year which were formed to investigate war-era human rights violation cases, officials said here.
A Cabinet meeting decided to extend the term of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Commission of Enquiry on Enforced Disappearance (CEED), which are also mandated to provide justice to the conflict victims, Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand told media in Kathmandu. DAMASCUS — Syrian army backed by the Lebanese Hezbollah group are closing in on the IS stronghold of the city of al-Bab in northern Syria, while Turkish forces and allied rebels are advancing in the northern part of that key city near the Turkish borders, a monitor group reported on Thursday.
