In a bid to enhance actualisation of MDGs
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has increased the counterpart funding to the United Nations development assistance framework for the year from N1 billion to N1.2 billion.
The FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, stated this on Thursday at the occasion of the signing of the agreement between the FCTA and the United Nations system in Nigeria.
Mohammed said that his administration is committed to the actualisation of the attainment of the millennium developmental goals.
“We will continue the actualisation of the planning of the FCT by increasing the counterpart funding from N1 billion to N1.2 billion,” he said. “With this initiative, it shows that the FCT will, in collaboration with the United Nations and other agencies, work hard to increase the tempo of development in the territory.”
Speaking earlier, the resident coordinator of the United Nations system in Nigeria, Daouda Toure, commended the minister for the timely release of the counterpart funding, adding that the UN was committed to providing supporting areas to ensure good governance, accountability, transparency and employment generation.
