Advance to the final fixture of the Fifa Under20 Women’s World Cup qualifying on a massive 6-0 aggregate

Nigeria’s Falconets head off the stiff opposition of hosts, the Young Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe with a superb 3-0 win at the Rufaro Stadium, Harare on Sunday.

Falconets won the first fixture at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta 3-0 with goals coming from Esther Sunday, Desire Oparanozie and Ebere Orji.

Striker Oparanozie put the Falconets forward in the 10th minute while Sunday grabbed goal number two in the 27th minute to keep the first 45 minutes at 2-0.

At resumption of play, Falconets pushed forward for more goals and were rewarded in the 86th minute through workaholic attacker and substitute, Ebere Orji.

The defeat ensured that Zimbabwe were eliminated from the Japan World Cup race.

Nigeria had more ball possession, corner kicks and attempts at goal unlike the Young Mighty Warriors.

“Today l am a happy man because my girls played well,” the Falconets’ head coach, Edwin Okon, said.

Falconets’ Keeper, Ebubuleye Whtye was on holiday unlike her counterpart, Portia Makucha who was kept on her toes throughout the encounter.

The nation’s campaigners advance to the final fixture of the Fifa Under20 Women’s World Cup qualifying on a massive 6-0 aggregate.

They will now wait for the winners of the encounter between Mali and DR Congo next month.

The winners will be among the 16 teams at the 2012 Fifa Women’s World Cup in Japan in August.

Falconets stunned the global community by reaching the final of the last edition of the football fiesta where they lost to the hosts, Germany 2-0.

Nigeria have participated in all editions of the biennial football event since 2002 in Canada.
