Anti-human trafficking NGO, Challenging Heights has rescued five children from slavery at Afram Plains in the Eastern region.

The child slaves aged between 9 and 19 were reportedly trafficked more than four years ago to serve as laborers for fishermen in Biobio, a fishing community in the Afram Plains.

Four out of the five were allegedly trafficked by their father, identified as 56-year-old Bright Agyapong.

The NGO in collaboration with a detachment of armed police and navy officers moved in to rescue the children following a lead on their exact location.

Sharing their ordeals with Starr News, the children said they are glad they have been rescued from their slavery.

They told Starr News’ Papissdaf Abdallah that they look forward to returning to school to continue with their education.

Mother of four of the trafficked children speaking to Starr News said their father deliberately sold the children into slavery to prevent her from seeing them.

According to her, she is delighted she has been reunited with her children after several years in slavery.
