I work as a freelancer and am self- employed keeping my own records on bookkeeping. I don’t have accountant. I used to write all my bills and receipts one by one with a text editor and keep the archives of the documents in the directory of my own computer. I wrote down all the bookkeeping on the excel spreadsheet, which took much valuable time from my work. This is not really a professional way of handling all the accounting, and not very handy neither, which I started realize after the clients started to be more numerous and the money transactions more frequent. The more you have clients and assignments the more bills there is to write and more records on money transactions to be made. I started to realize that if this continues, my assignments wouldn’t increase anymore but will be starting to wane since I don’t have time enough to meet the quality. I wrote down all the bookkeeping on the excel spreadsheet, which took much valuable time from my work. So I started to look for a solution for the problem and found an electronic billing softwares (in Finnish=laskutusohjelma)and electronic accounting softwares which would ease my work load and give me more time to concentrate on my actual work. I ended up using one, and after that decision been very happy, since the software does even more than I expected to have. Along with keeping the records organized, writing the bills and sending them electronically to the client, it also produces all the financial statements and other documents needed for example in taxation. The software works as a cloud service, which leaves me without the trouble of doing all the updates and paying for licenses. The solution has been economic as well, since I save in the working hours and can spend the spare time for example for marketing myself.
