An electronics trade group donated household appliances to Ghana’s energy regulator in Accra on June 19, for use as prizes in a nationwide campaign on new efficiency standards.
The Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances Alliance Ghana (CEHA) led the handover to the Energy Commission, with Executive Secretary Jerry Halm presenting items that included tabletop fridges, microwave ovens, blenders, television sets, kettles, toasters, coffee machines and standing fans.
Deputy Executive Secretary Chris Nanabanyin Yalley received the donation on the Commission’s behalf. The appliances are to be distributed as prizes at public sensitisation events, stakeholder engagements and media outreach activities tied to the Commission’s ongoing rollout of the new energy efficiency regulations.
Halm said the handover reflected the private sector’s readiness to play an active role in national energy conversations, and commended the Commission for its work on advancing efficiency standards across Ghana.
The Commission’s awareness campaign aims to prepare households and businesses for updated rules governing the appliances sold and used across the country.
