The National Executive Committee (N.E.C)?of the United Front Party (UFP) has further exposed officials of Ghana Electoral Commission (EC) for a gross act of?corruption?in the endorsement of Mr. Akwasi Addai, a.k.a ?Odike” as the flag-bearer of the party.

Mr. Kwadwo Sarfo Kantanka the Deputy Chairman in charge of operations and Mr Kofi Assumaning the Director of Elections all of Electoral Commission are alleged to have accepted a hefty bribe of ?GH? 3,500.00 from Mr. Odike to secure him a place in the presidential contest.

The UFP N.E.C which has consequently threatened to take legal actions against E.C for an act of corruption and for rejecting the forms of the legitimate flag-bearer of the party Mr. Kwaku Owusu Antwi as disclosed by the National Secretary Mr. Razak Opoku Kojo during an? interaction with our fraternity, ?again, suspected top executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as brains behind the? disqualification of some parties like National Democratic Party (N.D.P), Ghana Freedom Party (G.F.P), United Renaissance Party (U.R.P), Independent People Party (I.P.P), themselves among others during their final submission of ?their nomination forms.

?The UFP would like to urge the political parties to be very vigilant in this year’s election because there are some corrupt personalities within the electoral commission who can alter the verdict of the electorate,? he said.

Mr Razak Kojo added that the party will sooner than later come out boldly to expose top E.C officials and NDC executives involved in sucg garguantuan acts of corruption.

The United Front Party, he emphasized?still does not recognize Mr. Akwasi Addai the dismissed and now E.C glorified flag-bearer as the legitimate flag-bearer of the party since EC officials illegally endorsed him.

For the General Secretary, there is no way AkwasiAddai will gt total support from the hierarchy of the party especially from the Regional Chairman and some National executives of the party.

“We?will in few days endorse and support a presidential candidate and political party which we believe can win this year’s elections and transform the economy of Ghana,” he said challenging all party members who have supported the party to remain calm and be encouraged.

The EC seems to have been caught up in a mess days before the elections. Indeed current situations indicate that the EC which has over the years, been acclaimed for its good works as far as elections??? and democratic processes are concern, is more or less be coming a property for some greedy politicians who have bought their way through, corrupting the fibre of the EC.

It could be recalled that, just recently these same EC directors were arrested for alleged bribery as they allegedly engaged in corrupt activities with a political party.

The two, Mr Kofi Asumani, the Director of Elections and Asante Kissi, Director of Elections in charge of Logistics, have since been charged with bribery and corruption.

The two were allegedly offered GH?1,600 by the party but could not tell for what purpose.

The New Vision Party led by Prophet Daniel Nkansah, was disqualified from contesting the 2012 elections by the Electoral Commission because it failed to meet the Commission?s requirements.

Information is that, the two were arrested while in the process of refunding the money after the party was not cleared on Thursday to participate in the December polls.
