Effutu Assembly replace obsolete street lights

The Effutu Municipal Assembly has embarked on a special programme to repair all defunct street lights within the Municipality, the Coordinating Director, Mr Francis Owusu Ansah, has disclosedstreetlights

Mr Ansah.disclosed that the Assembly has procured 413 street light accessories for that programme.

In a speech, delivered at a parade of school children and voluntarily organizations to mark the 58th Anniversary celebration of Ghana?s Independence anniversary in Winneba, he said the programme is one of the surest ways of ensuring security in the Municipality, and reducing crime wave to the barest minimum.

He said, after completing the old township, the team would extend their operation to the Low Cost, Gyatekrom and other newly developed areas of the Municipality.

Over 70 percent of faulty street lights in the Municipality have been repaired or replaced.

Mr Owusu Ansah enumerated a number of development projects that had been undertaken by the Assembly.

. He mentioned some of them as the construction of school buildings and health facilities.

On roads, the Coordinating Director said the Department of Urban Roads and the Ghana Highway Authority, have started opening up Town Roads in the Municipality, to reduce encroachment on road ways

. He said most roads in the Eastern corridor of the Municipality have been opened up to traffic, adding that the Western corridor has begun from Klimovick Junction.

He said all roads serving as adjuncts to the main Winneba principal road, will be opened up, upgraded and graveled up to the Y-Junction where the Assembly premise is located.
