Edward Mahama: Kick against disunity within PNC

Former Flagbearer of the People?s National Convention (PNC), Dr. Edward Mahama has called on all members of the PNC to kick against any attempts by individuals or splinter groups within the party to align the PNC with either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing the media in Accra on Tuesday, Dr. Edward Mahama, who led the PNC from 1996 to 2008, stated that self destruction, was affecting the party?s chances of winning the 2012 elections.

?Let us not be distracted by people who want to win power for themselves. Let us focus on our own agenda because we have a presidential candidate and parliamentary candidates who want to win elections and put Ghana on our path to prosperity,? he stated.

?Ghana has now become a country that often goes into a run-off. We have done it twice and some people are convinced that the events of this year are probably pointing to another run-off. If there is a run-off and PNC is not involved, we [PNC] will take a decision, through the National Executive Committee of the party, whether to support candidate A or B,? he said.

?We usually bring out manifestos of other parties, go through them and list what agrees in our manifesto and then we endorse. I would say that certainly as clearly as that policy is, it means that PNC will definitely consider it?.
