The distribution formed part of a community education tour on energy conservation in the Upper Manya , Kwahu Afram Plains North, East Akyem , Suhum, West Akim, Birim North and the Denkyiebuo Districts .
The 10 selected communities in each of the districts received 1,500 pieces of the energy-saving bulbs.
Mr Michael Baah, Eastern Regional Manager of the ECG said the initiative formed part of the ECG’s corporate social responsibility, and also sought to educate customers on the need to conserve energy.
Mr Abraham Lincoln, Eastern Regional Marketing Manager of ECG, educated customers on energy conservation, billing cycle, metering, new service connection and safety tips.
The customers were cautioned to desist from illegal connection and other related activities that hampered the work of the ECG.
He said that anyone found culpable would be made to face the law.
