The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on Tuesday said in a statement that it will continue to work with African Union and its members to deepen Africa’s trade integration and effectively implement the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement through policy advocacy and national strategy development.
Stating that it drives such efforts through its African Trade Policy Center, the Commission said it would organize, from Thursday to Friday, a workshop in collaboration with the Democratic Republic of Congo to validate the country’s national AfCFTA implementation strategy.
Although the country signed the agreement establishing the AfCFTA in March 2018, DR Congo has not yet deposited its instruments of ratification with AU.
The AfCFTA provides the opportunity for Africa to create the world’s largest free trade area by the number of participating countries. Enditem
